Abstract:
The bop control device is a crucial piece of equipment for managing the mud preventer assembly and wellhead valves, playing an essential role in preventing blowouts and overflows, and maintaining well control during drilling and workover operations. To ensure operational safety, it is imperative to have reliable bop control devices on-site. However, current bop control devices are limited by their single control method and low level of automation, necessitating multi-position coordination for good closure and exhibiting slow closing speeds that are prone to errors. Therefore, this study proposes the design of an intelligent bop control device through hardware upgrades and expanded functionality of existing systems. Additionally, intelligent well closure control software will be developed to achieve unified coordination among various controlled objects such as bops and manifold valves during well closure operations at drilling sites. The application of this device on more than 50 wells has demonstrated its high level of automation, diverse control methods, and significantly improved efficiency and accuracy in well closure procedures thereby enhancing intrinsic safety in well control. This innovation holds promising prospects for widespread adoption.
