Signal Processing Method for Posture Measurement of Rotating Inclinometer

  • To measure the drilling tool’s posture while rotating and remove interference signals,a new signal processing method is presented in this paper.According to the periodical features of gravity acceleration component in the output signal of accelerator perpendicular to the rotation axis of inclinometer, and lower frequency feature of non-periodical centrifugal acceleration frequency than the former, the non-periodical centrifugal acceleration component is removed by a high-pass or band-pass filtering. An additional accelerometer with different vibration isolation was set opposite to one lateral accelerometer to eliminate the vibration noise within pass-band which cannot be removed by conventional filter.Simulation analysis shows that centrifugal acceleration signal can be removed by high-pass or band-pass filtering, and it is also disclosed that a periodic vibration noise coupled with rotation frequency can be divided into two different vibration frequency signals. Both simulation analysis and experimental tests show that two lateral accelerometers with different vibration isolation set opposite to each other can compensate and remove the vibration noise within pass-band,which provides a way for the accurate measurement of drilling tool’s posture parameters such as inclination and tool-face angle.
