Analysis of the Maximum Horizontal Principal Stress Based on Wellbore Collapse Information

  • Obtaining the maximum horizontal principal stress accurately is a difficult problem for deep well in-situ stess.Analysis of the maximum horizontal principal stress based on borehole collapse information is discussed in this paper.Numerical simulation analysis with log data and field tests to determine the maximum horizontal principal stress is proposed. The results show that,it’s feasible using numerical simulation method to invert in-situ stress based on borehole collapse information;this method can simulate the stress environment of deep stratum, the mechanical properties of rock formations and drilling effect, which can help determine the magnitude of the maximum horizontal principal stress accurately and simply.
